Studying in Graz: Study rooms and libraries close to your student dorm

Graz is known as a student city. It is home to several great universities which have multiple libraries in which you can find zones comfortable for studying. By Djemil Tahir.

Many students are accommodated in student dormitories. The nature of dorms often guarantees a social and an interactive experience that enhances the social needs of a student. However, to seek an environment which motivates for concentrated studying, students often go to libraries and specifically study rooms in libraries. In this article, I will highlight some of the libraries in the city of Graz you can access for a great studying experience while you are pursuing your courses.

The main library of the TU Graz which is located behind the main campus building opens its doors to students seeking communal study zones with computer station, coffee machines, scanners, printers and more facilities. It is an ideal place for making the best use of your time as a student in Graz.

It also provides rooms where student groups can work collectively without worrying about noise policies as they are made for group study functions. For all students with Eduroam accounts, internet in general can be accessible at all university buildings, hence in the libraries that connection alongside the TUguest WiFi are available. The guest WiFi does not require any account as a student in Graz/Europe.

The library of the Medical University of Graz is open to all students and non-students. With the capacity of about 180 seats for readers out of which about 52 places are equipped with PCs and and IT workstations.

A pre-registration might be required due to Covid-19 health regulations, however the process of booking a slot to be there and use the facility for studying is seamless.

The library also offers a massive collection of book and journals that can be freely accessed within the library for all.

Finding the perfect place for studying is as important as finding a comfortable accommodation as it is directly related to one’s performance and productivity. I hope that I helped you out with our recommendations. Regardless how long you will stay in Graz, I am wishing you a warm welcome and a pleasant stay!
