The Haus Michaelerstraße 11, also known as Wiener Heim, is a traditional student residence operated by Akademikerhilfe in Vienna’s 18th district (Währing). Since around 1930, Wiener Heim has been Akademikerhilfe’s first dedicated student residence and today provides accommodation for approximately 107 students.

Rooms & Prices

The Michaelerstraße 11 Student Residence offers both single and twin rooms. The rooms are fully furnished and functionally designed to meet the needs of students.

Each room includes:

  • Washbasin directly in the room

  • Bed

  • Desk and study area

  • Storage space

  • Internet access

  • TV connection

The showers and toilets are located on the corridor and are shared with the other residents on the respective floor.

Each floor features a spacious communal kitchen with a balcony. The kitchens allow residents to prepare their own meals while also providing an opportunity to meet and socialize with other students in the residence.

The accommodation options are:

  • Single rooms of approximately 8 m²

  • Twin-room places in rooms of approximately 16–19 m²

A laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers is also available within the residence. It can be used by all residents for a small fee.

Yes. The residents’ representatives provide an iron and an ironing board.

This depends on the floor. The number of residents varies between 15 and 24 people per floor. Each floor has a shared kitchen and a large shared bathroom with 2–3 showers, 2 bathtubs and 3–5 toilets.

An internet connection via LAN is available at the student residence. Please bring your own router so that you can set up Wi-Fi in your room for your phone, laptop, tablet, etc.

Yes, there are private parking spaces on the premises of the student residence. Your residence management team can tell you whether any spaces are currently available. Outside Akademikerhilfe’s premises, short-term parking zones generally apply in Vienna from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
